«ORT» Solid-State Recorder of audio information

Solid State Recorder of sound information – a new generation of on-board recorders of audio information. Designed on the basis of memory chips, modern element base with the use of signal processors and cutting edge information technologies.
Provides recording and safety after emergencies with aircraft (airplanes, helicopters, hereinafter referred to as A/C) of the voice data of the crewmembers and acoustic environment in the cockpit, as well as information from the data communications equipment (DCE), and timestamps.
Features of the product are:
- presence of a solid-state non-volatile memory (chipset), placed in a special box that protects the information recorded in it from the damaging effects in emergency situations;
- possibility of reading and reproducing the recorded information with the help of data retrieval equipment (DRE) directly on-board the aircraft from monoblock after flight;
- ability to recover data in the event of destruction of monoblock;
- presence of a removable storage device, which allows to quickly analyse the recorded information.
ORT records audio and digital information through six channels:
- Channels 1, 2, 4 - voice information from the A/C crew headsets;
- Channel 3 - mixed signal of acoustic environment in the cockpit from the omni-directional micro- phones (up to 3 microphones synchronous);
- Channel 5 - timestamp (recorded simultaneously with sound and digital information at channels 1 - 4 and 6);
- Channel 6 - information from data transmission hardware of the Air traffic control.
ORT provides continuous recording for at least sixteen hours for each of the recording channels.
ORT operates when powered by an A/C on-board network within range from 18 to 33 V.
ORT maintains continuous operation for duration up to 200 msec in case of primary power failure of on-board 27 V network.
ORT is ready to operate within 5 seconds after power is on.
ORT provides non-stop continuous operation for at least 24 hours.
ORT provides at least 30 000 hours meantime before failure (MTBF).
ORT provides protection against unauthorized access to recorded information.
ORT has a built-in automatic control.
ORT provides start-up and flow control test when turned on. The test is started from ORT control panel.
ORT receives timestamps from the A/C’s single- time system in one of the following formats:
- according to GOST 18977-79 and RTM 1495 rev.3 at clock frequency of 48 kHz of on-board registration device BUR-92 (BUR-92A);
- through specialised individual interface between ORT and “Tester-N” (“Tester-U3-KI”) equipment.
- according to ARINC429 in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) format at frequency of 12,5 kHz.
Weight - less than 9.8 kg.
Power consumption from the on-board network 27 V - not more than 10 watts.
Operating temperature range from minus 55 to plus 55 °C.
The lowest temperature limit – minus 60 °C.
Safe part of the monoblock provides safety of the recorded information after exposure to the following factors:
- a single hit with a impulse duration of 6.5 msec and a maximum acceleration of 3 400 G;
- resistance to puncture with a pin of 6.35 mm diameter with a fixed load of 227 kg falling from a height of 3 meters;
- 2260 kg static load applied alternatively to three mutually perpendicular axes continuously for five minutes on each axis;
- fire flame test with the nominal temperature value on the surface of the item at 1100 °C for 30 minutes with 100 % coverage of item’s surface by flame;
- increased surrounding temperature at 260 °C for 10 hours;
- seawater pressure of 60 MPa for 24 hours;
- submersion in seawater at a depth of 3 meters at a temperature of 25 °C for 30 days;
- immersion in kerosene, hydraulic and fire-extinguishing fluids.
